Invite a family member to help tell your story
A daughter may remember a family holiday. A grandson may have photographs you haven't seen for years. Invite someone you trust to help gather those memories, while you keep your own account.
First, decide how you would like them to help
Memoir Hive's family invitations give someone access to your shared biography memories. Choose the role that suits them:
- Contributor: can read and listen to memories, add and edit memory entries, and add or remove photographs. Contributors can also delete entries, so invite someone you trust.
- Viewer: can read memories, listen to recordings and see photographs, but cannot add or edit them.
This is help with gathering biography memories, not a handover of your account. Your helper uses their own sign-in; never send them your password. The invitation is not permission to manage or publish your main memoir.
How to send an invitation
- Sign in to Memoir Hive and open your dashboard.
- Find Invitations & Collaborators. You can use this panel or choose Open full collaborators page → to open the Family collaborators page.
- Enter your family member's email address. Ask which address they use for their Memoir Hive account, if they already have one.
- Choose Contributor if they will help add memories, or Viewer if you only want them to read.
- Select Send invitation. Ask them to look for the invitation in their email, including their junk or spam folder.
If the email does not arrive, you can copy the Direct link shown after sending and send it to them yourself. Share it only with the intended family member.
For your family member: accepting the invitation
- Open the invitation link in the email or message.
- Sign in using the same email address that received the invitation. If you do not have an account, create one using that address. If asked to confirm your email, do that first, then return to the invitation link.
- Select Accept invitation. You will be taken to the shared biography area.
You can choose Decline instead if you do not want to take part. If you are signed in with a different email address, sign out and use the invited address.
A gentle first session together
Start with one photograph and one memory. There is no need to finish a whole chapter in a day.
- Ask “Who is in this photograph?” or “What do you remember about that day?”
- Write down the storyteller's own words, or record a short memory with their permission.
- Add names, places and dates where you know them. Mark uncertain details rather than guessing.
- Read the memory together before moving on. Let the storyteller choose what they want to keep private.

You can change your mind
Return to Invitations & Collaborators to see pending invitations and accepted helpers. You can change someone's role to Viewer, or select Revoke to remove their access. An activity log records invitation and access changes.
Removing access does not undo memories or photographs already added, or retrieve copies someone may have saved. Agree beforehand on what your helper may change and what should stay private.
If the invitation will not open
Check that your family member is using the invited email address. If the link has expired, been revoked, declined or already used, send a new invitation from the collaborators panel. Do not share your password as a workaround.
