A birthday gift
A meaningful birthday gift for a parent or grandparent
A milestone birthday is a natural time to look back. Give them a gentle way to record the stories of their life, so the family can read them for years to come.
US$20, paid once. No subscription and nothing further is charged. A printed book is not included.

Ideas for milestone birthdays
- 70th birthday: ask about the first job, first home and the people who shaped them.
- 80th birthday: invite each grandchild to bring one question for them to answer in their memoir.
- 90th birthday: help them record the big changes they have lived through, from childhood to today.
Making it personal
Add a dedication in your gift message, such as “For Dad, so your grandchildren will always know your stories.” Family members can be invited later to help write the story together.
How the gift works
Step 1
You choose and pay
Pay US$20 once and add a personal message. You never need a Memoir Hive account to give the gift.
Step 2
They receive a private invitation
We email your parent or grandparent a private invitation, now or on a date you choose — or you can print a gift certificate to hand over in person.
Step 3
They create their own account and tell their story
They sign up with their own email and answer gentle questions at their own pace. Memoir Hive writes their answers into a life story they own and can share with family.
Questions and answers
Can the gift arrive on their birthday?
Yes. At checkout, choose their birthday as the delivery date and the private invitation email arrives that day. Or choose a printable certificate to put in their card.
What is a memoir gift?
It is a paid place for your parent or grandparent to record their life story. They answer simple questions, and Memoir Hive turns their answers into a written biography the family can read.
How does the gift work?
You pay once and write a message. They receive a private email invitation (or a printed certificate), create their own Memoir Hive account, and own their memoir from the first word.
Does the recipient need an email address?
Yes. They need their own email address to create their account. A family member can help them set it up and sit with them while they answer the questions.
Is this suitable for someone who does not enjoy writing?
Yes. They answer short questions in their own words — or say them aloud while a family member types — and Memoir Hive does the writing.
Is the payment one-off or recurring?
US$20 is paid once. It does not renew and nothing further is ever charged.
Is a printed book included?
No. The gift is a digital memoir. A printed book can be arranged separately later through Real Life Stories.
Can the memoir stay private?
Yes. The memoir belongs to the recipient, and they decide whether it stays private, is shared only with family, or is published publicly.
