Crypto inheritance without seed phrases

Memoir Hive's Privy wallet solves the biggest problem with traditional crypto dead man's switches: managing seed phrases and complex blockchain wallets without losing custody.

Memoir Hive lets you preserve your life story and set up releases after you pass away — including "digital cash" and on-chain transfers. It uses Privy to connect a familiar sign-in (email or social login) with secure blockchain execution.

How Privy multi-party computation (MPC) works

  • Embedded self-custody. No browser extension wallet like MetaMask and no raw 12-word seed phrase. Memoir Hive uses Privy's MPC design instead.
  • Split key security. A wallet address is created automatically when you register. Privy splits the private key into encrypted shares using Shamir's Secret Sharing. Privy holds part of the key material and Memoir Hive stores only an opaque reference — so neither can access or take your private keys on its own.
  • Key export. The wallet is non-custodial, so you are never locked in. You can export your private key at any time through Privy's secure export window.

How it automates your future-date inheritance

Rather than a purely trustless blockchain timer that could fire by accident if you go off-grid, Memoir Hive pairs the Privy wallet with its wider check-in and death-confirmation process.

  1. Fund the tracked wallet. Deposit stablecoins or supported crypto into the Privy MPC wallet created with your account.
  2. Schedule the transfer. In your dashboard, decide exactly when and where the digital cash goes — for example, "Transfer 100% to wallet address X exactly two years after my death is confirmed."
  3. Safety nets for deposits and recovery. Incoming deposit detection and sender-return recovery mean funds are not lost if an automated transfer fails or is never claimed.

Crypto inheritance questions

Do I need a seed phrase or MetaMask to use the Memoir Hive wallet?

No. A wallet address is created for you when you register, using Privy's multi-party computation (MPC). You sign in with your email or social login instead of managing a 12-word seed phrase or browser extension.

Can Memoir Hive or Privy take my crypto?

No. The private key is split into encrypted shares using Shamir's Secret Sharing. Privy holds part of the key material and Memoir Hive stores only an opaque reference, so neither can access your keys on its own.

Can I export my private key?

Yes. The wallet is non-custodial. You can export your private key at any time through Privy's secure export window and use your assets in any other wallet.

How is a crypto transfer triggered after death?

You schedule the transfer in your dashboard — for example, 100% to a chosen wallet address two years after death is confirmed. Memoir Hive uses its wider check-in and death-confirmation process rather than a simple blockchain timer, so going off-grid for a while does not trigger it by mistake.

What happens if a scheduled transfer fails or is never claimed?

Memoir Hive detects incoming deposits and includes sender-return recovery, so funds are not lost if an automated transfer fails or remains unclaimed.
